Gabriel Valdez gave our business group a presentation on how he came to be a printer. Gabriel is the owner of BrandMeUSA and although he is a local business owner, he sells nationally. Everyone put their business cards in a box and Gabriel drew a business card. Well, I was present at the time at the drawing and I was surprised that he drew my Country N' More business card.

I sent him my logo and this is what he surprised me with at our last meeting.

On the back is my name in cursive. These are fantastic.

New Vintage Style Lemon Delight Sweetheart Design Apron

This 1950’s sweetheart apron features was made using a bright and cheerful lemon print fabric. The cheerful green waist band and straps fit bring a bright and cheerful touch to this darling apron. Use one of the pockets to hold your phone while creating delicious meals in the kitchen. We have added two sweetheart shaped pockets, trimmed with the bright green print along with yellow seem binding.The extra long waist ties tie into a sweet bow on the front of the apron, while the neck straps tie in the back of the neck.

This apron was made using a rare out of print fabric.

All edges have been finished with stitching. This adds a professional touch to any apron.
Apron measures 32 ½ inches long from the top of the bodice to the bottom hemline.

Business Group Presentation and Give Away

I belong to a business group near my location. Every member in the group takes turns giving a presentation on their business. Each time, we talk on a different topic. My topic yesterday, was customizing designs to create different products using parts of existing designs.

At the end of my presentation, I did a fun exercise. I had the members guess how many stitches they thought were in the following design.

It amazes me every time I embroider a design in regards to the number of stitches that make up that design. The person who guessed a number to closest actual number without going over won a free towel.

Charles in our group guessed 25,000 stitches. The actual stitch count was over 37,000. Charles won this embroidered BBQ Time towel.

The bbq tools were a part of a larger design. I was able to isolate the two digitized designs to create this barbecue towel.

In the same way, I can used the whisk design on aprons, etc. I really have fun doing this. 

Why We Donate Fabric Scraps to Project Linus

Project Linus is a nonprofit organization that have brought comfort to these children. Project Linus was founded by Suzann McGinnis. Project Linus provides new, handmade blankets to critically ill and traumatized children. Since its inception in June 2000, Handmade Hugs has distributed blankets to comfort children in the San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Tujunga, Los Angeles and surrounding areas. We deliver new handmade security blankets that are sewn, quilted, knitted or crocheted. They must be washable and in kid friendly colors and/or patterns. Once these blankets are given to the children, most of them never put them down because they provide so much comfort and security for them in a life that has been turned upside-down by illness or accident.
Since 2,000 Project Linus has made and donated 50,574 blankets. WOW!  Of course this number is forever changing, thanks to the many people who sew, knit, and crochet these beautiful blankets. I am amazed when we go to donate fabric and scraps to Project Linus. They use it all, even the small thread scraps. The very small fabric scraps as well as thread scraps, are used to fill pillows for pet beds. These pet beds are donated to the Humane Society. We have been donating fabric scraps now for over 5 years. It amazes me how these women donate their time so that children in need can have the warmth of a blanket.

Well....I remembering our family going to the local bowling ally to bowl. It was something that we all did that was totally fun. I continued my passion from bowling in high school, where I played on the bowling team. I wasn't the best bowler and still am not that great to this day, but I still enjoy the game and that is what counts.

I embroidered these bowling towels for taking to the bowling games or tournaments. The embroidered towels also make great gifts.

Well, it is hard to believe that it has been over a month since the last posting. We have been creating fun embroidered gift ideas at Country N' More.

We are so excited about our new website. The new website has been up and running since Jan. 1, 2017 and we can't be any happier.

It has been 11 1/2 years since our first website went live and it was time for a change.

What I am so excited about is:
1) Customers can log in via facebook, Google, or check out as a guest. No registration is required.
2) Customers can hover over images to see more detail.

Our Latest Embroidered Monogram Bath Towel Sets

We don't have towels on hand, but this is the second towel set that was ordered by a fellow business group member. I really like the softness and the beauty of these towels.

The first set of towels was for him and his girlfriend. The letter style was block as seen here.

This time, they couldn't choose between block letters or cursive font. After sending them images of the stitched out font from our software program, they decided on Sharadee font. The initials T and C, look fabulous stitched out in gray.

When I dropped these towels to the customer's mother, she was very impressed. Little did she know that our business group decided to give her, her own set. You see, Marsha recently got married and we wanted to give her a set. She told me after opening up her gift, that when she saw the towels pictured above, that she wanted a set for her new home.

Sharing...A Great Idea For The Local Birds-Birdseed Wreath

I thought that this birdseed wreath was a terrific idea. I for one enjoy the local birds. Some are noisy like the wild parrots that fly overhead, but we should think of creating something that they can enjoy.

A Day At The LA County Fair

Last Friday, I spent the day with my oldest son at the LA County Fair. We walked every inch of the fair and I put in over 17,000 steps in that day. I enjoyed looking at all of the baby animals and of course, I have to look at all the handmade quilts, outfits, and sewing machines. We were fortunate that on this day, they were getting the Budweiser Clydesdale horses ready for a parade. Budweiser was getting signatures from people pledging not to drive drunk.

Of course, I have to post all the pictures of the animals and chicken coops.
